how do i apply?

To apply for a federal student loan, you must first complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Based upon your eligibility after completing the needs analysis process, the college or university you will be attending will send an award letter which details your financial aid package (grants, work-study, scholarships, loans, etc.)

If your post-secondary school participates in an electronic student loan process, they will contact you regarding your responsibilities involved in applying for a federal student loan. You may apply online for a Federal Stafford Loan or Federal PLUS Loan (Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students).

If you do not see your school listed as an option in these online application processes, then you will need to contact the financial aid office of your school to begin the loan application process.
