Historic Campus Icon-Old Capitol on the Pentacrest

Three of the five buildings that make up the Pentacrest--a focal point of our 162-year-old main campus--are featured in this video. The gold-domed Old Capitol building was home to the state legislature in 1846, but became the University's first permanent home in 1857. The University was founded in 1847, with faculty first offering classes for 124 students in 1855.
